Type species of Amanitella Earle: Amanita farinosa Schwein.

Comprising those taxa of Amanita sect. Amanita (a) lacking clamps on the bases of basidia; (b) having remnants of a pulverulent universal veil on the stipe often present on the upper surface of the stipe’s basal bulb as small pulverulent warts or, more commonly, a thin and narrow pulverulent layer.
