This is one of three taxa (of which we know) commonly
called "Amanita
rubescens" in Europe. The others will be
treated in these pages as
Amanita

discussion
The designation of a lectotype makes it possible to decide
which of A. sp-rubescens01 and A. sp-rubescens02 is
the true rubescens.
It is clear that the name should replace the temporary code,
A. s-rubescens01.
Amanita sp-rubescen02 ia apparaently an undescribed species to
which the name of an American taxon has been applied in Europe for a long
time&emdash;A. rubescens var. alba Coker (1917??). This has
been apparent for some time in our phylogenetic hypotheses. The American
entity is not a variety of anythin, but requires a name at species rank.
