intro
Olive text indicates a specimen that has not been
thoroughly examined (for example, for microscopic details) and marks other places in the text
where data is missing or uncertain.
The following material not directly from the protolog of the present taxon and not cited as the work of another researcher is based on original research by R. E. Tulloss.
pileus
70 - 90 mm wide, olive brown at disc, becoming gray-buff (near 4A3) toward margin, plane to concave, with prominent broad umbo, slightly viscid, finely fibrillose; context ??; margin strongly striate (0.5R), upcurved with age; universal veil absent.
lamellae
free, close to crowded, off-white, up to 10 mm broad, thin, entire; lamellulae ??.
stipe
100 - 130 × 10 - 15 mm, cylindric, off-white to buff, decorated with furfuraceous concolorous scales; context ??; exannulate; universal veil as saccate volva, white, graying near margin, membranous, persistent.
odor/taste
Odor and taste not recorded.
macrochemical tests
none recorded.
basidiospores
[21/1/1] (10.3-) 10.8 - 13.1 (-15.5) × (9.5-) 9.8 - 12.0 (-14.0) µm, (L = 12.1 µm; W = 11.0 µm; Q = 1.05 - 1.14 (-1.26); Q = 1.10), hyaline, colorless, thin-walled, smooth, inamyloid, globose to subglobose, infrequently broadly ellipsoid, often at least somewhat adaxially flattened; apiculus sublateral, cylindric; contents monoguttulate; color in deposit not recorded.
ecology
Subgregarious. Honduras: At 1200 - 1300 m elev. In solid stand of Pinus oocarpa with only scant ground cover.

Spore data for collections provisionally identified as: Amanita sp-HON08 Tulloss & G. M. Muell.
Each spore data set is intended to comprise a set of measurements from a single specimen made by a single observer;
and explanations prepared for this site talk about specimen-observer pairs associated with each data set.
Combining more data into a single data set is non-optimal because it obscures observer differences
(which may be valuable for instructional purposes, for example) and may obscure instances in which
a single collection inadvertently contains a mixture of taxa.
