occupied a coastal and riverine portion of the U.S.
state of Mississippi in
precolonial times. Their name is preserved in the
names of
a city, a river, and a Wildlife
Management Area in Mississippi. This species was
first encountered by RET in a collection from the cited
wildlife management area.
