intro |
Olive text indicates a specimen that has not been
thoroughly examined (for example, for microscopic details) and marks other places in the text
where data is missing or uncertain.
The following material is derived from original research of R. E. Tulloss. |
pileus |
white, thick-fleshed; universal veil as subpyramidal to truncate pyramidal, floccose warts, detersile, ??some possibly with membranous outer layer??. |
stipe |
white, narrowing upward, clavate, decorated with numerous rows of small, discolored, recurved scales on lower stipe; bulb not distinctly differentiated; partial veil spical, submembranous, collapsing; universal veil not recorded. |
odor/taste |
Odor of chlorine. Taste not recorded. |
macrochemical tests |
none recorded. |
lamella trama |
??; vascular hyphae
3.5 - 9.8 μm wide, branching, plentiful; clamps
??. |
subhymenium |
comprising clavate and cylindric cells in frequently septate, ramose arrangement; clamps present. |
basidia |
e.g., 49 × 9.4 μm, 4- and, occasionally, 2-sterimate; clamps present. |
stipe context |
longitudinally acrophysalidic; filamentous
undifferentiated hyphae ??;
acrophysalides up to 224 × 28 μm or greater, with
walls somewhat thickened; vascular hyphae up to 18.5
μm wide, plentiful; clamps present.

days for RET.] |
basidiospores |
[20/1/1] 8.4 - 10.5 (10.8) × (5.2-) 5.6 - 6.3 µm;
L = 9.6 µm; W = 5.9 µm; Q = (1.33-)
1.49 - 1.88; Q = 1.64),
??, smooth,
thin-walled, amyloid, ellipsoid to elongate, some
slightly constricted; apiculus sublateral,

discussion |
Old notes (August, 1987) are here transcribed at the request of Paul Hamilton Scott.
In reviewing my notes on this species, I don't recall why I didn't choose to identify the present collection as A. chlorinosma. The following figure provides a comparison of the sporographs of the present species and A. chlorinosma.
